  • This project consolidates two Field Maintenance Shops into one location, enhancing service coverage for North-East and North-Central Montana. 


  • SMA Architecture and Design partnered with the Montana National Guard and Montana Department of Military Affairs to pinpoint challenges and opportunities for a practical design solution, considering both spatial design and the project's remote location for constructibility.

Form out of Function

  • The proposed floor plan, shaped through extensive programming and design meetings, prioritizes efficiency to support the operational needs of the Malta Vehicle Maintenance Shop. 


  • Sustainable practices, guided by Army policies, are integrated into the project while coordination with security and anti-terrorism regulation ensure compliance.


  • Additionally, the conceptual site plan considers existing infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration with the Readiness Center and General Purpose Training Bay buildings while enabling independent functionality.
