East Helena Public Schools Facilities Master Plan
Master Planning

East Helena, MT

Creating a Playbook for Immediate & Long-Term Needs
In April 2023, the East Helena Public Schools administrators formed a committee to study immediate and long-term facility needs, facilitated by SMA.
Commencing with a data collection phase including facility conditions assessments, utilization studies, enrollment projects, and multiple community involvement opportunities to define a list of prioritized needs.
The 227: A Rapidly Growing Community
Ranging in facilities from the 1960's to 2020's, East Helena faces rapid housing development within the District due to the availability of land.
Studies at each existing facility were studied which included potentials of renovation, additions, replacements or additional new schools.

Flexible Preferred Scenarios
The committee ranked master plan scenarios which combined studies at each school location as well as recommended timing for the combination.
Several scenarios were identified as preferred based on pros and cons and overall cost. These scenarios are flexible depending on enrollment and growth changes as East Helena continues to develop.
