Restoring an 1898 Architectural Masterpiece

  • SMA documented and analyzed the condition of the exterior sandstone veneer and stonework at the Anaconda - Deer Lodge County Courthouse. Constructed in 1898 and designed by the same architects who designed the Capitol in Helena, the Courthouse features native sandstone veneer and detailing which have unfortunately sustained considerable damage over the century.

  • Working with Anaconda - Deer Lodge County, SMA prepared a study recommending steps and planning to stabilize and restore this southwest Montana architectural landmark. Prioritizing areas of work and repair will help the county in their ongoing restoration efforts, and Phases I and II have been completed.

Preserving the Native Sandstone

  • SMA conducted a Master Plan / Preliminary Architectural Report for Anaconda - Deer Lodge County, studying space needs and department planning.

Commons
  • With a vibrant commons and cafeteria adjoining the main entry, the school feels welcoming to students and the community, while a gym and stage holds other community events and performances. The school's entries are designed to activate the surrounding downtown and neighborhood areas.
