Site Challenges Lead to Design Opportunities

  • The Montana Hospital Association’s design responds to the steep sloping site in the south hills of Helena. The building was sited on the east/west axis to take advantage of passive solar design while capitalizing on the site’s slope to provide at-grade access to the lower level.

  • The site’s location, topography, and orientation provided the opportunity for the design to capture the tremendous views of the Helena valley.

Space as an Experience

  • With the mountains in the distance being a grand focal point, the building entry and board room were specifically aligned to provide unobstructed views to Sleeping Giant.

  • The building program includes traditional office spaces in addition to smaller team collaboration spaces and a roof top exterior gathering area adjacent to the board room.
